*NEW* Listen to the sermon below:
Remember that sermon notes are a guideline and may not be exactly what was preached.
When was it that the Jordan backed up and they could walk across on dry land?
When they stepped out; when they took the next step!
When do you think after hearing all of this, that you will be blessed?
God is calling you to take the Next Step. But the thing is—the waters don’t part until, we’re right there taking that Next Step, until WE have acted in response to God’s word, until we take that next step of obedience. Not before. God is seldom early, never late
We Say, “Well, part the waters and I’ll go for it, Lord. Show me and I’ll step out.”
But God says “Step out and I’ll part them. That’s the way it works in my kingdom!”
Still we argue:
Give me an experience, then I’ll believe; Seeing is believing. Show me and I’ll trust you, Change me and I’ll love you. Bless me and I’ll serve you. Show me the way and then I’ll follow. Heal some folks, and then I’ll be encouraged to start praying for the sick. Start saving my neighbor, and then I’ll be encouraged to go and seek the Lost. Give me, and then I’ll start tithing and giving to others…
God has given us His Word, In His Word we find examples of those who have walked this earth in obedience; who took the Next Step…
God is telling us Trust me and I’ll show you, Love Me and I’ll change you, Serve Me and I’ll bless you, Follow Me and I’ll lead you.
Step out and DO it, and then the waters will part- the healings will come, the lost will be saved, relationships will be healed, give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” But you will have to take the Next Step!
It is said that you cannot discover new oceans until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.
It is of no use to say to the waters, “please part” to the obstacles you face “please move”. You’ve gotta be BOLD in taking YOUR next step!
“Get thee behind Me Satan” Out of my way! Give me this land! Give me souls! Renew us! “YOUR Kingdom come” How?
Take your next step! And the only way we can take that Next Step is by being living sacrifices we have got to lay aside—no—Crucify our pride, our selfishness, and our ego and do what it takes to be the church to our neighbor/s!
We need to Dream Big, anyone can fulfill man sized dreams, We are not limited by what we know or what we have… We limit ourselves and God with fear, unbelief, and doubt which lead to disobedience (James 4:17). With God all things… Cattle on a thousand hills.
But those dreams have got to be God centered, Kingdom honoring God glorifying! God sized dreams keep us on our knees, desperate for God, and God dependent!
We must pray in faith coupled with action, our faith must match our actions; James 2:17 God heal my relationships… God get me a Job…and we do nothing…..
Pray and don’t’ just wait for the water to part Take the Next Step of obedience! Take a step of Faith That is what God is waiting for. Don’t turn back when you encounter obstacles in your path. If God is leading you to do something He will make a way. Step out. Risk it. See the waters part.
And place markers in the ground so you never go back. (stones)
But there’s more to these milestones than just OUR benefit.
There’s more to being a Christian than attending a service. More to the body of Christ than just you/me!
Milestones encourage those who are struggling that someone’s been this way before, the journey is long but you can make it! when we hear of obstacles being overcome it encourages us! Encourage one another!
Do you think that this passage of scripture was for someone else, that this message is for someone other than you? No! It’s about us/you stepping out and seeing it happen in Your life, Your area of influence, your neighbor and in our Church!
God CAN do it through you! Get up! Fight again! Pray again! And then take that Next Step right down into your Jordan! You can do it… because God I s with you. Bart, Joshua, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Sara look at Hebrews 11!
