John 1:1-5, 14, 12:44-15:27

3 years ago/where we are now.  We are slowly working our way through John…

John 20:31 – “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name. Believing is…

In the Gospel of John the word “Believing” is used 100 times depending on your translation…  250 (give or take a few) times in the whole Bible, 9 times in Matthew, 18 in Mark, 9 in Luke. “Love” is mentioned 57 times in John and 46 times in 1st John. John accounts for half of the times used in NT.

We are in the last night Jesus has with His disciples when we get the most information and teaching on the Holy Spirit.

God calls us to obedience to take the Next Step of faith so that we learn to trust in Him, so that our faith  will grow, so that when life hits us hard (and it will) we will naturally have that faith and trust; and with confidence can say My God Saves!!!

We are told in Chapter 15 to abide in Christ to make our home in Him. The Church is the body of Christ, His church is not brick and mortar or wood and stone but is made up of flesh and blood, believing, Christ followers. These believers are engaged in the activity of His Church, what we are called to do and that is to love God, love one another, and make disciples. The church does this by abiding in Him.

Either you are abiding in Christ or you are abiding in the world. There is no in between, no grey area, no fence to sit on. You are either bearing fruit for one or the other. Romans 7:4-6 – Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.  For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. Of the world and bearing worldly fruit…

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son – Colossians 1:13

In Romans 11 we are told how we have been grafted into Israel, that believers are now the Israel of God. We have been grafted into the family, we are no longer of the world. Our allegiance has to change or we are not in Christ, not abiding in the vine and are of the World, actions speak louder than words… Marriage – responsibility

Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” – Luke 11:28

Either we are in His will, His plan for us… or we are not. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11. Going your own way, doing your own thing is rebellion…

The only way to overcome the world is to no longer be conformed to it or by it. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2.

This is where the Helper is so needed, it is He that teaches us through the Word, it is He that brings to remembrance all that Jesus said as 14:26 told us.

John 15:26-27 He bears witness to us about Jesus and we are to bear witness to the World!

The Go of the Great Commission: We, the Church, hold the most important information and teaching in this fallen world, the Good News, the love of Jesus, that reconciliation with our creator is possible now: today.

Today is the day now is the time… to change allegiance to switch sides and  get a new life… Marriage – responsibility

There are two Kingdoms: the kingdom of darkness and the Kingdom of light… either we can abide in the World or in Christ you must decide…
