Please remember that sermon notes are meant to act as a guide and may not be exactly what was preached.
It is my sincerest hope and prayer that you have received The Gift…
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. – John 3:16-18
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. – Ephesians 2:8
There is far more to The Gift than is seen from the outside…
The Gift was not just the birth of a child it was the giving of a life!
Tonight you will find out how The Gift is opened and accepted but I thought you should know some of the things that come with The Gift this morning.
Forgiveness, justification, sanctification, redemption, reconciliation…
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:20 Accepting and Receiving…
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” – Luke 1:38
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” – Luke 1:45
The part of The Gift that I want to look at this morning is His Church.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. – Romans 13:14
New Life: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 – the problem with that is a lack of believing…
In 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 we read: For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many.
Believing is not just showing up for church it is being the Church!
Is the Church that we are a Gift to the communities in which we work, live, etc.?
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. – Isaiah 9:6-7
“We are not to look or act like other people (The World): Rather, we are to look like Christ. We are to act like Christ. We are to do things that Christ would do in the Power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit.” – A.W. Tozer
