John 20:11-23 (Seeking the Lord and Seeking the Lost, Reaching up and Reaching out.)

So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. – Romans 6:11

Grocery store… Conjecture…

2 questioners: angels and Jesus

2 things: Mary was grieving her loss… Mary was seeking the Lord where she had last seen Him. Her focus was where? In the past, what she knew, what she had experienced and she kept turning back to it.  Back to that which was dead and gone. Her focus was scued, why?

Vs. 21 Great Commission – How is the Church sent? They were to go out into the World as the church/together. He said that He did not come to be served but to serve. When you come to a service, is that service for you or is it for God?! Are you seeking to be served through the service by being entertained?

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. – Luke 19:10

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. – John 3:17

We have been given the ministry of reconciliation Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. – 2 Corinthians 5:17-20, emphasis added

When you responded to the call of God to come to Jesus and to receive the gift offered you in what He accomplished on the cross, at that point you were commissioned to be His witness in this world as part of His Church, to bring about change, to build community through the application of the one anothers of God’s Word and to reach out to your neighbor!

Oh but Pastor I couldn’t possibly do that. I don’t have the knowledge…

Well, lack of knowledge can be fixed… fear can be overcome… all it takes is you taking your Next Step…

Pastor Jonathan Mitchell said that the G. C. means relationships are more important than differences, real or perceived!

Paul in Colossians 3:8-10 says To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things,  so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known…

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10 ESV

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.  – Ephesians 2:10 BSB

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. – Mark 10:45 Think John 13.

Jesus said As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. – John 15:9-10

God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.” – Acts 3:26

I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. – John 12:46

Jesus said in Matthew 5:15-16You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. – John 6:38 We too are sent to do the Fathers will.

Vs.23 – those who believe, who put the knowledge of Christ to action will be saved, those who refuse to believe will remain in there sin condemned and Hell bound which is basically what the great commission in Mark tells us.

Our Authority comes Thru Jesus Christ: Matthew 28:18. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
