“Jesus’ mission on earth was to see God’s power, love, and healing permeate every aspect of this broken world and our broken lives.” – Francis Chan
Jesus healed then and He heals now. He heals physical issues, emotional turmoil, addictions, broken relationships, and so much more.
Let’s turn to SCRIPTURE
Now, I really want to unpack all that happened here. Because it’s a LOT.
- Leper
- First and foremost, because it is so important that you understand this. Sin is the leprosy of the soul. Healing isn’t just about physical ailments – healing is cleansing of our soul, healing of our hearts, our minds, and our bodies. Christ is ruler of them all.
- Knelt before him (2) – humility and worship – when was the last time YOU were on your knees in the presence of Jesus? If He were here in the flesh…
- Altars aren’t just for show…
- Patty’s mom
- If you are willing, you CAN –he acknowledges His will AND His power.
- enables us to say Thy Will Be Done…
- I can’t tell you why some are healed and others are not. But just because you aren’t doesn’t mean it is an issue of faith – Paul, Timothy…
- IMMEDIATELY
- As a testimony (4) – Sometimes you aren’t healed for you. (Say it again) Others need to see your healing (soul, body, relationships, etc.) so that they can see and KNOW who Christ is! What is your testimony? And who have you told? We are meant to be vulnerable – to share our struggles and how God has helped/is helping us through…so that others may come to know Christ better. (Story of Kabi and Bob Goff)
- When we seek healing in relationships within the church, instead of allowing the leprosy of offense to spread, HE gets the glory for healing impossible situations!! The testimony of unity is for OTHERS to see and know that He is good and He is God!
- Centurion
- This isn’t about him – we are allowed to come to the Lord for someone else.
- Not worthy (8) – humility
- Working faith vs. trusting faith – BOTH are valid. BOTH are good. BOTH are rewarded.
- I too am a man under authority (9) – What if we responded to Christ and His authority the way the soldiers respond to him – “When His will crosses our own, His must take place and our own must be set aside. (HENRY?)”
- Here’s the good news: Every disease, every relationship, every addition…is under His authority!
- I have found no one in Israel… – Prefacing the Gentiles – when we get to heaven many of us are going to be surprised at who is and isn’t there.
- Intercession works!
- As you have believed, so it will be done. – What if this was God’s response to your prayers?? Do you really believe??
- MIL
- Her immediate response to her healing was to SERVE HIM!
- (Humility)
- How do we respond today? How do we serve Him?
- Obedience
- Matthew 25:37-40 – ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you?’ “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
- The One Anothers…
- Serving one another may be the best proof of our spiritual health & restoration.
- THE END
- This is so WE know who HE is. He fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah!!
- Summary
- What must we do??
- Seek Him in Humility
- Faith – power, authority, will
- Some of you need healing in…
- Moms!!
- HIS WORD – ANOINTING
- We don’t need an intercessory or a faith healer – JESUS
- James 5:14-16 – Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
- Some of you have already been healed and now it’s time to get out of the bed, to get out of the pew, and serve Him!
- One more thing – don’t forget that often times your healing isn’t for you. We are meant to leave a legacy. Are you leaving behind a white picket fence and an inheritance for your children? Or are you leaving behind a story of healing that will point countless generations toward the one true savior?
- What must we do??
- Her immediate response to her healing was to SERVE HIM!
