False Prophets 2 Corinthians 11:1-15
The foolishness that Paul is speaking of is his boasting of himself, of his credentials in being a minister of the Gospel, an apostle of Jesus Christ.
How can any of us boast in our accomplishments when it is God who gives all good things, it is foolishness to take credit for gifts or talents we may have or the ministry successes that took place. It is God who builds His Church, we are but the hands and feet—if we are willing.
Paul was clay in the hands of His maker, following where God led, and doing His best where God placed him in sharing the gospel.
The Enemy is at Work…
It is so important to know the Word of God, I will give the Corinthians the benefit of the doubt…
Anyone can be deceived, led astray, or drift away if they don’t keep their focus and stay attached to the local church.
There are false prophets that teach a false Gospel today… Prosperity gospel… embracing of sin… Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. 1 Cor 6:9-10
Listen. Those who practice sin will face the wrath of God, now, as well as for eternity. (see Romans 1:18-32
Some speak of the blessings of God, success, family, love, and of prayer. But not of the wrath of God against sin, unrighteousness, and un or disbelief nor the coming judgment.
We cannot be deceived into thinking that way. Many will be lulled into Hell thinking that they are Christians when they are not.
Don’t think that that is not going to happen, Jesus warns against those that preach and teach a false Gospel, that present a false image of God, but He also tells us how we can recognize them.
The enemy uses those he deceives to spread a false Christianity and a one-sided Gospel leads people away from Christ and His True Church. Jesus said
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
The Church is called, no commanded, to Go and disciple others, to lead others to Christ.
A person claiming to be of the Church, a Christian, and living like the world is not just a hypocrite… Their lives proclaim a false message that says there is no consequence for sin, no consequence for inaction.
Jesus Himself said that he would spew the lukewarm from out of His body.
Questions: Are you active in ministry? Are you sharing the true Gospel with your life? How are you doing your part as a member of the Church?
